Ivanka Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, are the founders of a New York beauty school that opened in the Bronx in December.
A spokeswoman for the Trump Organization said that Ivanka Trump has taken over running the academy, which was founded by a Russian immigrant and his wife.
She declined to provide details on what she said is the value of the program.
The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The New York-based beauty school, founded by two Russian immigrants, is the first in the United States to offer both male and female students an array of classes and apprenticeships.
It has a full curriculum, and a few instructors are women.
The program has been under scrutiny from Jewish groups and some of Trump’s fellow Republicans, including Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., who said last month that Ivanka’s “beauty school” should be shut down.
“If Ivanka is the one that is taking care of the children, they should go to the schools,” Collins said on Fox News, adding that “the Trump Organization has the right to decide whether or not they want to participate in the program.”
The Trump family’s real estate empire and other businesses have been the subject of criticism from Jewish and Muslim groups over the past few years.
The group American Israel Public Affairs Committee called on the Trump administration to divest its investments in settlements in Israel and the West Bank.
